History

Founded in Paris in 1847 by Louis-Francois Cartier, the company is very soon recognized for its creativeness. Being appreciated by the French Imperial family brings him an international reputation. From its 1st workshop boutique in the 2nd district of Paris, in 1899, Cartier settles its headquaters 13 rue de la Paix in Paris 1er, historical heart of Luxury brands. Louis, Pierre and Jacques Cartier, Alfred's sons, expand the brand to an international perspective and they acquire the title of "jeweller of Kings and King of the jewellers". Exceptional jewels and gems, prestigious timepieces, extravagant special orders punctuate this fabulous story. From the "tutti fruti" coloured stoned jewels of the Art Deco period, the famous Tank watch (1917), the Trinity ring (1924) celebrated by Jean Cocteau, the bestiaire diamonds worn by Liz Taylor, to the Love Bracelet (1969), design and trend of the 1970s Cartier's story is made of icons.
