Louis-Ulysse Chopard, a young artist, creates his studio in 1860 in Sonvilier. This ambitious young watchmaker, traveled frequently in Eastern Europe and Scandinavia, where he succeeded to seducing new customers. In 1963, no heirs wanted to manage the company, and Karl Scheufele acquires the house. The Scheufele family is still today completely independent, rare example in this industry. The Maison is well known for its advanced technology and its creativity both in watchmaking and jewellery. Chopard has developed important partnerships including the famous Italian racing Mille Miglia and the prestigious Cannes Film Festival, the Grand Prix de Monaco, and the Porsche Motorsport. Basel World 2018 was the time for Caroline SCHEUFELE to announce a critical ethical engagement: Chopard intends to use 100% ethically sourced gold in all of its jewelry and watch collections by the end of July 2018.
