History

One of the most famous "Maison de Haute Couture" still maintaining this tradition of creator and member of the Comité Colbert. After passionate years of recognized creations, the maison was fatherless at the death of C. Dior. The young creator Yves Saint-Laurent joined it, just as meticulous and perfectionist, adding lightness and ease to wear clothes. The promotion of the bohemian look of the 1960's brought Marcel Boussac, conservative owner, to let the young creator join the French Army and he hired then Marc Bohan much traditional in his collections. Bohan developed the Gentleman and Baby department, as well as the timepieces branch. Becoming LVMH's subsidiary leads the Brand to a tremendous international extension, offering to share the spirit of the house in the various sectors of fashion, accessories, timepieces, jewellery and even cosmetics.

Christian DIOR, founder of the maison is its 1st designer. Yves SAINT LAURENT becomes his assitant at the end of the 1950s. More classical in his style, Marc BOHAN, will succeed him until 1989. Gianfranco FERRE, John GALLIANO, Bill GAYTEN, Raf SIMONS and Jonathan SANDERS are the most recent ones.Maria GRAZZIA CHIURI is the very first lady at the head of Dior's fashion creation. Victoire de CASTELLANE is the designer for the jewellery. Kim JONES is the artistic Director for Dior Homme

Le tailleur Bar | Le Lady Dior

Christian Dior is the creator of the "New Look" so called by the editor-in-chief of Harper's Bazaar commenting the 1st fashion show in 1947. Its suit "tailleur Bar" and its architectured jacket still remain and inspired John Galliano and Raf Simons in their creations. | The bag Lady Dior is one of Dior's iconical pieces, a little handbag which stitching represents one of Dior's symbol: canework. His best ambassadress was Lady Di, Princess of Wales.
