History

Gagosian Gallery was founded in Los Angeles by Larry Gagosian in 1979. He is today leading one of the most important contemporary art galleries in the world. Larry Gagosian, "the king of art dealer", is specialised in modern and contemporary art. His very first exhibition in New York was dedicated to Pop art. Roy Lichtenstein, Jeff Koon, Damien Hirst are examples of major artists supported by the Gallery. His constant and hard work to promote arts and especially contemporary art has been officially rewarded: Peabody Award, Rome Prize for visual arts, French Chevalier de la Légion d'honneur, and Ordre du Mérite.

AUCTION RECORDS

Several auction records in 2010s to participate to the quotation of artists. Larry Gagosian supports: "Nu de Dos, 4 état" a monumental bronze by Henri Matisse (1930) - "Angry because it's plaster, not milk" a painting by Ed Ruscha (1965) - "William T.
