History

Montblanc is born from an union of skills: Claus Johannes Voss, from paper industry, Alfred Nehemias, from financial world, and August Eberstein, the ingeneer, all gathered in 1906. Founders discover a fountain pen which is not leaking, they decide to improve the model and mechanism, and to input an ink reservoir. The 3 partners settle in Hamburg to manufacture spotless pens while writing. The 1st collection is called "Rouge et Noir" (Red and Black). Their writing instruments are recognizable with their body in black ebonite and their white nib. The legendary "Meisterstück" (master piece) is created in 1924, and since reinvented in various sizes and materials. The red then white star at the top of the pen becomes the brand's signature, being the symbol of the Mont Blanc snowcap and its six valleys. As a result, the company firstly named "Simplizzisimus- Füllhalter" is renamed "Montblanc International Gmbh". In the 30s, the brand launches desk leather accessories . DUNHILL Ltd acquires the company in 1977, becoming as a matter of fact part of RICHEMONT. Since, the brand will extand to watches, other accessories and jewels production. The house is member of COMITE COLBERT.

The "power pen", the talisman of celebrities and individuals of letters, the emblem of treaties and big deeds. 4810 engraved in its nib corresponds to the Mont Blanc's heigh in meters.
