History

In 1967, Ralph Lauren starts a necktie line under the label Polo, and begins selling his designs out of a drawer in the Empire State Building in New York. Ralph Lauren introduces its iconic Polo pony logo in 1971, first appearing on women's shirt cuffs. In 1983, the brand opens its flagship store for men on Madison Avenue in New York in the famed Rhinelander Mansion. Through his brand, and its variety of labels, Ralph Lauren inspires a life style made of luxury as well as simplicity. In 2016, Ralph Lauren is the official outfitter for the Olympic Games, designing the opening and closing ceremony outfits for the US Team in Rio de Janeiro.
