History

In 1967, Ralph Lauren starts a necktie line under the label Polo, and begins selling his designs out of a drawer in the Empire State Building in New York. Ralph Lauren introduces its iconic Polo pony logo in 1971, first appearing on women's shirt cuffs. In 1983, the brand opens its flagship store for men in New York City on Madison Avenue in the famed Rhinelander Mansion. In 2016, Ralph Lauren is the official outfitter for the Olympic Games, designing the opening and closing ceremony outfits for Team USA in Rio de Janeiro.
