History

After studying marketing in Besançon, Richard Mille, born in Draguignan the 13 February 1951, started to work at Finhor, a local watchmaking company in 1974. The company was acquired by Matra in 1981 and Richard Mille rose to manage Matra's watchmaking business, which then included the brands Yema and Cupillard Rième. Matra's watchmaking activities were sold to Seiko, who Mille left in 1992 to start a watchmaking business for jewellery firm Mauboussin. In 1999, he leaves Mauboussin and he founds this own company: Richard Mille SA in collaboration with Audemars Piguet. He positions his time-pieces with a new radical approach of 3D design, innovative and high-end technics. Its first piece, the RM001 went on sale in 2001. Looking at events and cooperation with ambassadors of the brand, you can easily guess Richard Mille is an aficionado of sports, motors and formula 1. In 2007, the brands joins the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie and wins the golden hand at the Grand Prix de la Haute Horlogerie
